Civil & Power Generation Projects (Pty) Ltd (“CPGP”) regards Health, Safety and Environment as a key business imperative and core function of the Organization.

Our company actively encourages a positive safety culture amongst all members of staff and employs a personalized Safety, Health, and Environmental Management System (SHEMS) which is founded on both internationally recognized best practice principles and local legislative requirements as laid out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and Regulations.

As part of our vision to be the best contractor within our field of expertise, the Executive Management Team of CPGP, is committed to principles of sustainable development, continual improvement and never compromising our goal of “Zero Harm” to the safety and health of our employees and the environment, in the quest for other business priorities.

To achieve this we will:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an integrated safety, health and environmental management system based on Legislative, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 requirements, indicating our clear purpose and direction towards achieving zero harm.
  • Drive continual improvement through setting objectives and targets based on sound risk and impact assessment methodology, conducting regular reviews of the system and measure our performance continuously and implement effective preventative and corrective measures where needed.
  • Enforce Compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, company policies, procedures and customer requirements, throughout all departments.
  • Conserve natural resources such as the air, water, energy and land by encouraging employees, contractors and stakeholders to minimize consumption of resources and prevent pollution, by implementing and maintaining an effective Health and Safety Plan, and Environmental Management Plan on all our projects.
  • Take due care to prevent work related injuries and illnesses that may arise out of man/machinery interface, manual handling, working at heights, lifting equipment and, but not limited to hazardous chemical substances, identified as our significant risks.
  • Adopt a clear vision of future business decisions, harnessing available technologies, materials, products and management practices, processes and systems which improve health and safety performance.
  • By effectively training employees and contractors on issues of safety, health and environmental management to ensure sustainable performance by encouraging overall participation in health and safety activities.
  • Communicate our Health & Safety Policy to all employees, contractors and stakeholders and ensure it is available to the public and interested parties on request.
  • In order to achieve these objectives all personnel will endeavor to achieve the highest standard of compliance regarding SHE Principles.
  • We will review the Policy and HSE Management System annually to ensure relevance and effectiveness to achieve and maintain our goal of “Zero Harm”.
  • Our adherence to the very highest health and safety standards, regardless of project location, is the result of our unfaltering commitment to workplace safety.
